General Plan

I am going to test how much mascara runs when a girl cries.

Experimental Design

During my science fair project I will have to plan out some details. I will be conducting my experement in my bathroom, at my house. I have approved this with my parents. I will have 4 girls (including me), Jade, Bella and Riley. They will put on 4 mascaras each. Each person will do 4 mascaras so each mascara will have 4 trial. I will write the data on a spreadsheet that i have drawn out on paper, then copy it onto my laptop later on.

Materials List

MATERIALS LIST:
  1. Abby
  2. Bella
  3. Riley
  4. Mascaras
  5. eye drop (4)
  6. towels
  7. soap

Detailed Procedure

  1. Colect materials.
  2. Once all girls arrive have them wash face.
  3. Have Subject 1 put on 2 coats of "Lashblast Luxe" on eyes
  4. Hand them their eyedrops. Have them drop 3 drops in corner of eye, and 2 drops under eye without blinking.
  5. Have them blink 5 times.
  6. Measure drippage with ruler.
  7. Have them wash face well next subject goes
  8. Have Subject 2 put on 2 coats of "Lashblast Luxe" on right eye
  9. Hand them their eyedrops. Have them drop 3 drops in corner of eye, and 2 drops under eye without blinking.
  10. Have them blink 5 times.
  11. Measure drippage with ruler.
  12. Have them wash face well next subject goes

  23. Repeat for next 3 mascara.

Data Analysis


Conclusion:

The main purpose of my experiment was to see which namebrand, nonwaterproof mascara ran the most. I put mascara 1 & 2 on two of my friends (Hailey and Riley). Then I put mascara 3 & 4 on my mother and I. After 15 seconds of drying 4 drops of water was placed on the eyelashes. Next the subject would blink twice the amount of drippage would be measured in cm. The data I got proves that all eyes are different.






Discussion

My hypothesis was that LashBlast Luxe would run the most and Falsies would run the least.My reasults do not support my hypothesis. There is not a relationship between the variables. My data is unreliable. I think the test went smoothly with minor problems. The problem that I faced was that my data wasn't consistent. If I could improve my experiment i would only have two mascaras and twenty people to test them on.
